The Graduate Certificate in Community Advocacy is a new 18-credit graduate certificate program with George Washington University's Graduate School of Political Management (GSPM). Students can earn the graduate certificate in three semesters - one year of part-time study. The program has both online and brief onsite components. Students take all six courses online, but are required to be in residency at the Washington, DC campus for four days total (two weekends). Participants will meet with faculty members for two days at the outset and for two days prior to completing their final course: the Practicum.
The GSPM, since its founding in 1987, remains pioneer in offering graduate studies focused on practical politics. The Graduate Certificate in Community Advocacy program responds to a specific need stated by leaders of several non-profit organizations – to bring together existing courses into a concentration that focuses exclusively on building community awareness. Specific attention is given to models of animal protection organizations and issues of advocacy.
